Staff Bios

Henry R. Kennedy - Executive Director
Henry Kennedy has served as Executive Director at Kieve since 1991 and is the third generation of his family at the helm. Henry graduated from Colby College in 1980 then worked as a Certified Public Accountant in California and Portland, Maine. His non-profit experience includes 2 terms elected to the Cumberland, Maine school board, member of the Colby College Board of Overseers, appointment to the Great Ponds Taskforce by Governor King, past president of the Maine Youth Camping Association, past member of Allagash Wilderness Waterway advisory committee, founding board member of the Family Ice Center in Falmouth, Maine, member of Equity in Education taskforce for Governor Baldacci, and member of Maine Huts and Trails board.

He was a Kieve camper from 1967 through 1972 and a counselor from 1973-1980. He lives in Cumberland and Nobleboro, Maine with his wife, B.J., and their 2 children, Sam and Blair.

Charlie Richardson - Director of Education and Operations
Charlie has been an integral member of the Kieve-Wavus family since 1983, first as an intern in Kieve\'s Leadership School program then as a counselor, and ultimately as C0-Director of the Boys\' Camp. He currently is involved in helping to provide the best educational experience for each and every person and group that comes to our incredible campuses. In the community Charlie has been a board member at the Central Lincoln County YMCA and board member and chairman of the Nobleboro, Maine School board. His teaching and administrative experience have taken place in the Hull Public School in Massachusetts, the Linsly School in Wheeling, WV, and McDonogh School in Owings Mills, MD. He now resides year round at Kieve with his wife Annie and their two children Laurie Beth and C.J.

Kirstie A. Truluck - Wavus Camp for Girls Director
Kirstie joined the Kieve-Wavus family in 2010 when her youngest daughter attended Junior Wavus and fell in love with summer camp. Kirstie joined the Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc. Advisory Board in 2013 to further serve the organization. She has spent the last twenty-five years teaching elementary, middle and high school children both inside and outside of the classroom. Since earning her Master’s degree in education, Kirstie has served as a master teacher and lead administrator at the Hyde School, an independent boarding school in Bath, ME. In addition to her work with young children and adolescents in schools, Kirstie has run wilderness trips in the woods and on the waters of Maine for schools and camps, managed ropes courses, been a bunk counselor for Tanglewood 4-H Camps and coached youth sports for the Bath Recreation Department. She resides in Bath, ME with her husband Rich and her daughters Merrill and Logan.

Ed Ross - Business Manager
Ed and his wife Sandra are North Carolina natives who moved to Damariscotta from NYC in 2010. Ed has a B.S. in mathematics from Wake Forest University, an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an Advanced Professional Certificate in finance from New York University; he is an inactive CPA. Ed has had a variety of financial and accounting responsibilities while working as a manager and an owner in three for-profit corporations; he has also been an active volunteer in several non-profit entities. In his spare time Ed enjoys the RedSox, sailing, gardening and volunteering for SCORE.

Jess Anderson - KW Health Care Manager
Originally from the Adirondack region of New York State, Jess began working at Kieve in 1999 while attending Hamilton College. After graduating in 2002, Jess became the Kieve Infirmary Director in the summers while teaching the rest of the year at Marianapolis Preparatory School in Connecticut. In 2010 Jess, along with her husband Reid, fulfilled their lifelong dream of moving to Maine full time. Jess is an EMT, Red Cross Instructor and also volunteers in a local church. She loves her current roles as The Leadership School Program Director and KW Health Care Manager, having the opportunity to appreciate the big picture impact of the TLS experience on schools and the everyday details of student and camper wellbeing. Jess, Reid, and their son Peter live in nearby Dresden, ME during the year and on site at Kieve during the summer.

Reid Anderson - Assistant Director of Education and Operations
Originally from the Main Line of Philadelphia, Reid began at Kieve as a camper in 1992 and never left. He was a camper for five years (1992-1996), a counselor for five years (1998-2002) while attending Hamilton College, and then became a director in 2003, spending summers at Kieve and teaching the rest of the year at Pomfret School in Connecticut. In 2010 Reid, along with his wife Jess, fulfilled their lifelong dream of moving to Maine to work full time at Kieve. Reid is a Registered Maine Guide, avid whitewater paddler, and general outdoor enthusiast. Reid also volunteers as a firefighter with the Dresden Fire Department and is an active member of a local snowmobile club. Reid, Jess, and their son Peter live in nearby Dresden, ME during the year and on site at Kieve during the summer.

Diane Impallomeni - Head of Food Service and Hospitality
Diane has been with Kieve since 1999. She oversees food service at Kieve, serving as the supervisor at both the KLC and Pasquaney dining hall. Diane liaises with clients before their arrival at Kieve and helps them to determine their needs regarding menus and amenities. Her food has been described as phenomenal and amazing, and she has been duly praised by clients for her attentiveness. Be sure to ask about her seafood chowder.

Betsy Lee - Camp Staff & Store Administrator
Betsy joined us after six years as the Administrative Assistant for The Wavus Foundation and brought a wealth of experience in the areas of development, accounting and event planning. Betsy manages the Camp Store on both campuses and is the administrator for the Summer Camp Staff. Betsy is a graduate of the University of Maine at Orono with a degree in Animal Medical Sciences. Her two daughters, Anna-Marie and Laura are former Wavus Campers and Staff members.

Summer Morton - Office Manager
Summer is a graduate of Thomas College in Waterville, Maine, where she graduated with her Business Management degree. She joined the Kieve staff full time in May of 2002, after working part-time for the preceding three years. Summer, and her husband Ryan, love chasing their two boys and their crazy sport schedules.

Faye Woodman - Administrative Assistant, Summer Camp for Boys
Faye began her career with Kieve in 1995 as the Executive Assistant to Henry Kennedy and the Administrative Assistant to the Kieve Summer Camp for Boys and the addition of the KW West Program. She diligently works to support all the parents by comforting them with a myriad of requests, unraveling any issues and melting any potential crisis areas with effortless expertise. She attended the University of Maine at Augusta for Computer Science. In her off time, Faye works with her husband Wayne to provide assistance to his Ministry and the Parishioners of the West Waldoboro Community Church in Waldoboro, ME. She also works with the From our Hearts Organization creating beautiful designer cards for all the service men and women who are deployed, providing them with multiple all-occasion cards to send home to their loved ones. For pleasure and relaxation she is learning to skillfully play the piano and delights in communicating and spending time with all her children and grandchildren.

Megan Taft - Director of Curricular Innovation
Megan found her way to Kieve in 2002 after completing her undergraduate degree at the University of New Hampshire in Outdoor Experiential Education. From 2002-2005 she served as an educator and Residential Director for The Leadership School (TLS). Following her work with TLS, Megan was the Director of Adventure Education for a small boarding school nestled in the foothills of the White Mountains and spent her summers leading backpacking, canoeing and bike trips throughout Maine and New Hampshire. Determined to dig further into her passion for teaching, Megan completed a Masters of Education at the University of Massachusetts in Social Justice Education. Her combination of residential program experience and diversity education led her to the field of Student Development, where she has had opportunities to work with several colleges and universities in areas of diversity training and education, student leadership development, and environmental education. Megan rejoined the Kieve Wavus community in 2014 and lives with her partner Sara and their daughter Adley in Alna.

Rob Reilly - Director of Adventure Programming
Rob is a native of Manchester, England where he started rock climbing at the age of 13. He moved to the US in 1993 and has been working in the field of outdoor education for over 15 years with groups ranging from corporate managers to adjudicated youth. Rob joined the Kieve-Wavus team in the spring of 2010 as a Leadership School teacher and Challenge Course Manager. Rob is a nationally certified challenge course & adventure program manager and a certified AMGA (American Mountain Guides association) rock climbing instructor He lives in Hope, ME with his wife of 20 years, Sarah, and their three children.

Bill Chapman - Snow Goose III Captain
Bill brings a wide range of experiences and talents to Kieve. He has always had a mechanical bent, working as a maintenance mechanic in a local hospital while attending Northeastern University. He is a jack of all trades, able to handle a wide variety of projects on his own. In the past he has served as a law-enforcement officer in Washington, D.C., worked with Project Leap in Massachusetts, overseen a number of properties in Coastal Maine, and worked as a commercial fisherman for more than twenty years. He holds a Coast Guard boat license and is also a licensed Maine Guide, specializing in hunting expeditions both for upland birds and Sea Ducks.


Scott Henry - Director of Facilities - Wavus
Scott has worked for Kieve-Wavus since 1995 and has spent time caring for both of the organization’s properties. He now insures that the physical plant at Wavus is maintained and improved year round. He earned his BS degree in Environmental Sciences from SUNY at Syracuse. In his time off Scott, enjoys hunting and fishing in both Maine and Canada. Scott shares his affection for Wavus with his wife Robyn, son John and daughter Josey who is a Wavus girl in every way.

Joy Bengtson - Executive Assistant
Joy joins the K-W team to share her experience in non-profit fundraising; secondary and graduate level development and alumni relations. She brings a high level of energy and professionalism to the position, and enjoys connecting with people... especially those that share her deep love of the outdoors. Joy earned her degree in Environmental Management from Harvard University. Joy lives in Pittston, ME with her partner Matt. She loves spending time hiking, Nordic skiing, traveling, tending her vegetable garden, cooking elaborate meals, spending time with family and playing with her rescue Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Marfa.

Walter Dickerson - Kieve Facility Manager
Walter, a close friend of Tom Hartenstein\'s, joined us in 2008 and did a wonderful job filling in wherever he was needed. He was an Assistant Director, primarily in the wilderness trip program from 2009-2012.  At the end of the 2012 season Walter joined the Kieve Facilites Management team full time. An experienced hiker, jack of all trades, eternal optimist, and exceptional role model, Walter is famous on the Appalachian Trail for backpacking barefoot!

Russ Williams - Development & Communications Director
In addition to being the Development & Communications Director, Russ coordinates all the the program brochures, newsletters and website updates. For Boys Camp specifically, he oversees the design and implementation of the Camper Connection, a very popular website function, updated daily during camp and that allows parents to stay updated on some of the happenings around camp and view thousands of camper pictures all year round. Russ is also the 9/11 & Family Camp Director.
