What if my child has medication or allergies?
In the 27 years that The Leadership School has been in existence we have seen thousands of children with medical needs. We are very consciencous about giving the students the medications that he or she may need.
We ask that you be sure to keep the medications in their original containers with the name of the student, the name of the medication and the dosage instructions. Upon arrival at The Leadership School all medication will be taken to the infirmary where our nurse will check the medications and the dosages. She will divide the medications into locked boxes that are kept in the cabins, and the medications will be distributed as instructed.
In the case of allergies, we ask that you alert us prior to your child’s arrival so that we can be sure that the entire staff is aware of the allergy and the steps that are to be taken in case of a reaction. If there is a food allergy, please be assured that we will make the campus as free of that substance for the week that your child here as we can.
We are equipped with epi-pens at strategically located area around The Leadership School campus. Along with having a nurse on campus throughout the week, we also have staff members that are trained in Wilderness First Aid as well as Wilderness First Responders. In case of a medical emergency, we are equipped with a defibulator and are only 10 minutes from Miles Medical Center in Damariscotta, Maine. |
