Fundraising Ideas
While Kieve-Wavus Education, Inc. does subsidize half of the cost
of a residential program here at The Leadership School, in the
financial atmosphere of today, many schools still struggle to
find the funding to send their students.
Below are various ideas of how some of our schools fund their
portion of our program. We have included some sources that have
provided grants to programs in the past, as well as fundraising
ideas that have been successful for some of the schools that we
work with. Please know that we are interested in hearing any ideas
that you have found successful in your school so that we can continually
update the list, allowing more students to benefit from our programs.

Organizations that have donated money to help fund the programs

Fundraising events that have shown success in the past. (This
is a great way to introduce the idea of working together to
achieve a common goal):
Bottle Drives
Selling of restaurant cards
50/50 raffles at sporting events
“Hat Day” at school (the kids pay to wear hats)
Candy bar Sales
Candle Sales
Magazine Sales
Town warrant dance socials

Grants that have provided funding in the past:
Galen Cole Family Foundation
- 3-year funding program
- Provides a portion of the cost of
a 3 day outreach program (66% year 1; 50% year 2; 33% year
3)
- Money can also be used for a residential
program.

Maine Community Foundation’s County Program:
- Average
grants are approximately $2,500
- Franklin,
Somerset, Androscoggin, Aroostook, Cumberland, Knox, Hancock,
Oxford, Piscataquis, Waldo, Washington Counties
- Donor
advised funds, scholarships, nonprofit endowments, and field
of interest funds.
