Camp Kieve was founded in 1926 by Donald Kennedy, a Philadelphia school teacher. His goal was to provide a small group of boys the opportunity to grow as individuals during the summer. Campers returned year after year, eventually returning as counselors and then Directors. Two more generations of Kennedys have led the organization, broadening its reach to include a girls’ camp and a number of co-educational programs. Kieve-Wavus Education is now a non-profit organization governed by a committed Board of Trustees and providing life-shaping opportunities to 10,000 young people and adults each year. Though the organization has grown exponentially and nearly a dozen programs now serve people from all walks of life, the tradition established in the early years remains the foundation of the organization’s mission.
